New HSK (3.0) format · original practice questions
HSK 6 practice test
A full-length HSK 6 test with 87 questions, built to match the structure of CTI’s official sample paper for the new HSK. Every question has an explanation, and wrong answers go to your mistake list.
What is on the HSK 6 test
The real HSK 6 written test has 82 questions and takes about 125 minutes. This practice test follows the same parts in the same order:
- Listening, questions 1–8: Hear a short recording and choose the statement that matches it.
- Listening, questions 9–40: Interviews, talks and longer recordings, each with several questions.
- Reading, questions 41–50: Word cloze in passages.
- Reading, questions 51–60: Sentence cloze in passages, with one extra sentence that fits nowhere.
- Reading, questions 61–80: Long passages, each with several questions.
- Writing, questions 81: Practical writing of at least 150 characters (the sample: an online ad for a flatmate).
- Writing, questions 82: An argument essay of at least 300 characters (the sample: does technology help or hold back human development?).
The separate HSK 6 speaking test is described on the HSK 6 guide and in our speaking guide.

How to use this test
- Early in your preparation, use practice mode to learn the question types and see explanations part by part.
- A few weeks before the test, take it under test conditions to check your timing.
- Afterwards, go through your mistake list and the HSK 6 word list for words you missed.
Scores here are a guide to readiness, not an official prediction. CTI has not yet published pass marks for the new HSK; on the old test, 60% was a pass.
All questions are original WordSwing content, written to match the format of the official sample paper. They are not official CTI questions. Pictures: Noto Emoji (Apache 2.0). Audio is synthesised speech.
