HSK 4 practice test
A full-length HSK 4 test with 75 questions, built to match the structure of CTI’s official sample paper for the new HSK. Every question has an explanation, and wrong answers go to your mistake list.
What is on the HSK 4 test
The real HSK 4 written test has 70 questions and takes about 85 minutes. This practice test follows the same parts in the same order:
- Listening, questions 1–14: Short dialogues with one question each; four choices.
- Listening, questions 15–32: Longer dialogues and short talks, some with two or three questions.
- Reading, questions 33–42: Choose words from a bank to fill blanks. Each bank has one extra word that does not fit anywhere.
- Reading, questions 43–57: Short passages with ★ questions, including some longer passages with two or three questions.
- Reading, questions 58–64: Choose sentences to fill gaps in a passage.
- Writing, questions 65–69: Look at a picture and write a sentence using a given word (for example 结账, 幅, 活泼).
- Writing, questions 70: Write a short essay of at least 80 characters on a topic (the sample: your most memorable trip).
The separate HSK 4 speaking test is described on the HSK 4 guide and in our speaking guide.

How to use this test
- Early in your preparation, use practice mode to learn the question types and see explanations part by part.

Scores here are a guide to readiness, not an official prediction. CTI has not yet published pass marks for the new HSK; on the old test, 60% was a pass.
All questions are original WordSwing content, written to match the format of the official sample paper. They are not official CTI questions. Pictures: Noto Emoji (Apache 2.0). Audio is synthesised speech.
