尽管…但是 / 还是…: although (formal)
尽管 is a more formal 虽然: 尽管很累，他还是坚持完成了.
Structure
- 尽管 + A，但是 / 可是 / 还是 + B
How it works
尽管…但是… means “although…”, like 虽然…但是…, and is common in written Chinese.
The second half often contains 还是, 仍然 or 却.

Jǐnguǎn tiānqì bù hǎo, bǐsài háishi ànshí jǔxíng le.
Although the weather was bad, the match went ahead on time.

Jǐnguǎn tā hěn nǔlì, dànshì chéngjì háishi bú tài lǐxiǎng.
Although he worked hard, his results still weren’t great.

Common mistakes

尽管 introduces a contrast, not a reason.

The contrast uses 还是 / 但是, not 就.
